The Coastside Womens Club raises funds for local charities and scholarships for Coastside high school seniors. Our fundraising activities have been many and varied, including dinner dances, auctions, donation drives, rummage sales, Fun and Games Days, Art Shows, and other fun events, resulting in fundraising to exceed $225,000 since 1986!
Our primary goal is to responsibly distribute the money raised throughout the year through a variety of CWC events and fundraisers. The continued faithful efforts of CWC members and community donors have been rewarded with much success and provided significant donations to groups and individuals in our community.
These are some of the thankful quotes from students:
“Somehow just saying thank you doesn't seem enough. Your thoughtfulness has meant a lot to me. I am so happy to have been selected. I am getting ready to join the nursing program.”
“I’d like to thank you again for honoring me with your scholarship. It has significantly helped my financial situation and I dearly appreciate it. I can't tell you how excited I am to start my journey to college where I plan to be a biology/science major.”
“I think it is a great thing that you do for the community. It makes me want to do the same when I get older! Thank you, thank you.”
“I will be solely responsible for the financial aspect of my college education. I am truly grateful for the generous donors. You are fine ladies. Thank you so much for helping me embark on this wonderful journey in pursuit of becoming an astronaut.”

The Scholarship and Charities Committee considers new requests made by local charities, continuing gifts made to previous recipients, and determines which groups will receive a grant. In the Spring of each year, we meet to interview HMB High seniors who have been selected by the school as candidates for a college scholarship. We then select the students we feel the most deserving and recognize each with a gift at HMB High School Scholarship Award night in May. After receiving necessary enrollment documentation, our treasurer distributes the scholarship amount to the student.
In 2017, four deserving local charities, Coastside Hope, Sonrisas Dental Clinic, Puente, and Coastside Development Center each received an $1850 grant while twelve qualified seniors at HMB High School were each awarded an $1800 college scholarship. Additionally, the CWC provides funding for the Adopt-A-Family Christmas program and the Fall Backpack drive for needy coastside students.
